Ageless Derma: Special Clay Masque

I have grown rather accustomed to Ageless Derma in the last little bit, having tried, tested, and trued a few of their products. So, here is what we already know about the company and their products:

  • It’s a skin and beauty company that offers mineral alternatives to chemical laden products. It is backed by biochemists, scientists and estheticians all creatively and intelligently pulling together to make healthy products. This is the coles notes version of who the company is.
  • Their products “never contain animal-derived ingredients, synthetic perfumes or high levels of preservatives, detergents, silicones, alcohol or mineral oil”
  • Its Anti-Aging Skin Brightener is of great quality, it has evened out my complexion with a glow, and it has made less obvious my one deeply set forehead wrinkle. Alleluia.
  • Their mineral makeup is a strong, healthy contender in the beauty market. It is lightweight and its natural ingredients pack a punch!

Next on the docket is their Special Clay Masque made up of such things as vitamin B5 and allantoin from the comfrey root. Ageless Derma describes this masque as having “high drawing action, purges the skin of impurities and excessive oils, and promotes cell regeneration”. I can attest to the first two. I have experimented with it three times and each time, the results have been the same. I am telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Here is a breakdown of my experience with the masque:

It looks like clay. It smells like clay. It tastes like clay. It definitely IS clay ! (of course I didn’t taste it. That was literary fun). They instruct to use but a thin layer and to keep it on for about 10-15 minutes. For my first time, as I was super keen, I put on a thicker layer than probably needed, and, I kept the clay on for their maximum time instructed, quite hoping for maximum effects. The second and third time, I used less. The bottle is only 2 ounces after all, and I want to make it last. Please note: using less rendered the same results.

Face lathered in mud, I paced my apartment looking like I was ready for combat, until it was time to wash it off. Immediately upon removing it, my skin felt different; different than from a regular wash. It felt ridden of any excess; the clay quite literally sucked all the oils and tortures off my face. It felt and looked matte. It felt raw. It felt healthy. My skin was brought back to its original state, free of absolutely everything: daily oils, makeup residue, and the pollution of every day life.

They say beauty is pain. But, there was nothing painful about this. Except maybe the smell. While it isn’t a walk through a rose garden, it serves its purpose well, and the resulting skin is what makes it worth it.

Beauty doesn’t have to be painful, or tedious. It is as manageable and pleasant as a 15 minute clay masque.
