MELBOURNE (10 MARCH 2016) - Target Australia launched its latest designer collaboration, with a preview of the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target collection showcased at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival last night.

Representing Target’s third runway at the festival, international supermodel Nicole Trunfio opened the show featuring items from the Gaultier collection. The collection is available in selected stores and online from today.

Jean Paul Gaultier himself was unable to make the event in person due to ill health and joined via video link.

“Everyone at Target is incredibly proud to present high quality fashion with a diverse range of models of all shapes, sizes and ages,” said Target Australia MD, Stuart Machin. “It is at our core to represent all Australians through innovative fashion and new designs, and we’re so proud to have a diverse range of designers and ambassadors as part of the Target family.”

As part of the event, Target Ambassador Jessica Mauboy performed songs ‘This Aint Love’ and ‘Inescapable’, with fellow ambassadors Sonia Kruger and Fiona Falkiner hitting the runway to showcase Target’s latest season designs.

Designer for Target, Dannii Minogue showcased her Dannii Minogue Petite collection and former Olympian and activewear designer, Giaan Rooney, walked for her Spalding range.

The complete Target Runway was streamed live via Periscope and Twitter Australia. A GoPro held by a male model captured event, including preparations backstage to the moment before models hit the catwalk. Guests and models were also able to upload content straight to Twitter through the use of the ‘Twitter Mirror’.

The show signifies the first time Target has occupied a premium time slot in VAMFF’s program – with the runway occupying the 6pm slot at the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne.
