SAINT HOLLYWOOD BY UTA BEKAIA (NEW YORK, USA)
Georgian designer Uta Bekaia presented his latest collection at Alternative Fashion Week on Thursday. He showed an array of fabulous designs with twists of eccentricity, a distinctive colour palette, bold patterns and lots of details. His flexible and innovative approach to fashion can be seen in unique cuts and funky accessories, like face masks and original headpieces, by using imaginary prints and metallic fabrics, by mixing different styles, and by not treating fashion too seriously. The colourful clothes fascinate with their great attention to detail and unconventional solutions. Fashion as we know it is closing the door on head to toe matching and Uta Bekaia is one of many designers leading the way on that project.
Uta Bekaia was born in 1974 in Tbilisi, Georgia, and is currently living and working in New York. He finished his Fashion Design studies at Academy of Arts in Georgia in 1996. His work experience includes theatre costume design for numerous productions and shows in New York. Uta considers art his "spiritual journey" through life.

ReplyDeleteFashion often seeks to idealize, but Comme des Garcons—helmed by the elusive Rei Kawakubo—exists to interrogate. Since 1969, the Tokyo-born label has operated as a laboratory of contradictions, merging brutality with delicacy, chaos with precision, and absurdity with profundity. Kawakubo’s work defies categorization, not merely rejecting beauty standards but reimagining beauty itself as a fluid, mutable concept. To engage with Comme des Garçons is to enter a world where clothing becomes a metaphor for the human condition: fractured, poetic, and defiantly unresolved.
ReplyDeleteThere’s a reason Comme des Garcons remains one of the most innovative forces in the fashion industry — it’s fearless. The brand continuously experiments with unconventional silhouettes, textures, and concepts, often breaking the very rules it once set. Each runway show feels like a story told in abstract form, forcing us to question norms and expectations. This daring creativity has earned the brand a cult-like following among those who see fashion as a form of art and expression.

ReplyDeleteWhat’s fascinating about Comme des Garcons is how it merges minimalism with complexity. A single garment might appear simple at first glance, yet upon closer inspection reveals intricate layers of thought, construction, and symbolism. This duality — simplicity that hides sophistication — is what makes the brand so mesmerizing. It’s fashion that demands to be studied, not just worn.
