Thanks to Porter Airlines, Canadian airline based at the Toronto Island Airport, flying is fun and glamorous again! Imagine quick, reliable and easy airport access, hassle-free check-in, complimentary lounge with fast Wi-Fi, drinks and snacks, lots of legroom on the plane, and much more.

A Bit of History

Porter Airlines started operating in 2006 offering passengers a convenient alternative to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

The official opening of the pedestrian tunnel at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (commonly known as the Toronto Island Airport) in July 2015, made it one of the most convenient urban airports in the world. In fact it is only around 2.4 miles or 4 kilometers from the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre.

The underground tunnel, which runs 10 metres under water, is free to use and includes a combination of elevators, escalators and moving sidewalks to move people end-to-end within six minutes.

Another way to reach the airport, located on Toronto Island, is the ferry service (free!) that travels back and forth to the mainland every 15 minutes. It takes just a couple of minutes to cross and allows you to enjoy the stunning view of downtown Toronto.

  1. I agree with you. Porter Airlines is awesome. I flew it recently from Ottawa to Toronto and loved the ease of service and arriving in downtown Toronto, as that was my ultimate destination, rather than having to take the long and expensive cab ride downtown if flying via another airline that uses Pearson airport.
