LISBON - Lidija Kolovrat presented her Spring/Summer 2014 collection on the first day of Lisbon Fashion Week. The runway show took place at the elegant Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (Lisbon Town Hall).

Called “An Everyday Fantasy”, this collection is a “response to changing moments.” From elegant to eccentric, Kolovrat moves from simplicity to playfulness with unexpected draping, diagonal cuts and cutouts exposing the body.

The collection featured asymmetric dresses combined with oversized tops, vivid prints, and a flawless mix of sculptural elements.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Lidija Kolovrat began her studies at the Film Academy of Zagreb, later she turned to fashion and entered another course, Design and Fabric Technology also in the Croatian capital city.

Her passion for Portugal began while visiting and in 1990 she decided to stay permanently. There she regained her breath, also she opened her first business, an organic bakery but soon engaged in the artistic revolutions of Lisbon and became a prominent Maker.

Kolovrat`s extensive body of work includes costume design for performing arts reaching the public in multiple ways, she becomes a Fashion Maker. A contemplative and philosophic person yet hands-on and business driven Kolovrat leaves her Bakery behind and reconstitutes her Lab at the centre of the city and opens a store, another stage emerges, with her interdisciplinary and community awareness the space would serve many purposes, from events to workshops. Kolovrat Lab operated for 15 years as an art space and had a recent rebirth as Kolovrat 79 in another location in the heart of Lisbon, now the Lab has its one place as a spacious first level of an old Bakehouse, accessible only by scrolling a long narrow corridor where is the Shop and adventuring in the old steps that leds to the top of the historical building, nevertheless as concealed it might seem the Lab has received many concerts, talks, photography productions, filming and many sorts of gatherings. Lidija Kolovrat needs space where to put all her dreams, those are mainly making friends and starting collaborations.
