Being our biggest organ, the skin performs many functions for us, of which we are usually unaware. Our skin protects us from the heat and cold and it acts as a mediator between a touch or a pain and the feelings they cause. That’s why taking care of our skin should be our priority. Depending on the type of our skin – normal, sensitive, dry, or combination skin so will depend, the way we treat it. Even if you have neglected taking care of your skin, there are still ways to retrieve its elasticity, softness and by those facts alone, our good looks as well. We can use different pomades, creams, undergo some treatments and drink plenty of water, among others. These are, of course, some of the ways we can rejuvenate the skin



1. The importance of H2O intake

All the things done for skin improvement require plenty of water. However, water is not a nutrient. It is essential for bodily functioning and it acts as a natural preventive against wrinkles. The consequences of insufficient water intake are visible in fine lines and wrinkles on our face. At the moment our skin severely suffers from constant water deficiency it becomes dry and flaky. Water hydrates our skin from the inside out. Remember that coffee and tea do not count here as daily water intake as they are diuretics that cause even more water loss. For every cup of tea or coffee, you should drink one glass of pure water to make up for the loss. This is one of the five principles of perfect anti-aging programs



2. Treating your whole body 

In order to get clear skin once and for all, you should be mindful of how you treat your whole body. As the ozone hole is bigger and bigger every year, UV rays are more and more dangerous for our skin. That’s why we need to protect it from harmful effects coming from the sun. We should put on sunscreen at all times, a few times a day. Even if it’s cloudy. UV rays can make our skin look wrinkly, saggy and dry. Another thing we should do is exfoliate once or twice a week since this process removes dead skin cells from our skin. And lastly, moisturize your skin every day. 3. Different skin treatments

The modern age offers all kinds of treatments for different types of skin problems. However, not all of them are reliable and advisable. Before undergoing any treatments, you should definitely consult your dermatologist. A simple visit to the doctor’s office can reveal if you have a vitamin A deficiency. Prescription vitamin A treatments can help in rejuvenating aging skin. As far as dynamic wrinkles are concerned (those are the ones that appear when you frown or smile), you can opt for a laser skin treatments that can boost your skin’s health. These include laser skin rejuvenation, pigmentation and acne scar reduction, wrinkle reduction and many others, whose goal is to bring your self-confidence back by making some minor cosmetic changes to your skin. 



4. Daily skin routines 

The first step is to know your skin type. Different skin types will require different routines and products. Use a gentle cleanser that you apply to your skin, rinse with warm water and pat dry. Be careful not to over wash your face since it can have negative effects. Remember to remove your makeup at night as it can clog your pores and lead to acne. Incorporate a toner into your daily routine. Toners help soak up oil and they remove dirt as well. Also, apply an exfoliator once to twice a week in order not to damage your skin but just enough to remove dead cells. No matter the type of skin you have, use a moisturizer. To avoid blocking your pores use a moisturizer that is oil-free.



5. Skin Dos and Don’ts

Here are some skin care Dos and Don’ts as far as taking care of our skin is concerned. 

  • Don’t take too many showers during the day – it can dry your skin out.
  • Do drink plenty of water – it keeps you hydrated from the inside out.
  • Don’t apply too many skin products at once – you can get your skin irritated.
  • Do nourish your skin with a product that does everything you need – a 3-in-1 product.
  • Don’t drink too much coffee – it can dehydrate you.
  • Do use caffeine-laced products – they tighten your skin and soothe redness.
  • Don’t sunbathe too much – it can injure your skin seriously.
  • Do use self-tanning lotions – you get the summer glow without harmful consequences. 


It’s never too early to start thinking about our health and the life habits we need to change in order to look good and feel better about ourselves. Our whole lifestyle has effects on our appearance. That’s why it’s important to make necessary changes in our diets, water intake, the products we use, the amount of exercise as well as some vice such as alcohol or cigarette consumption.
