We have all been there. The event you have been waiting for has finally arrived. You have finalised your outfit, meticulously analysed the guest list, and you a prepared to have a fabulous time. However, your elation turns to horror as you look in the mirror and see a huge angry spot in the middle of your forehead. Of course, even those of us who do not have major events to attend in a day can still get put off by a throbbing red spot. It seems to demand attention, and it feels like it may well be the first thing anyone will notice about you too, even if the rest of your outfit is perfect. Well, before you lose all hope, let me tell you two things. Firstly, everyone has those days, and secondly, there are many ways for you to get rid of it, or at least reduce it, in time for your party!
Develop a Routine
A zit, a pimple, a blemish, a black head, a spot. The old saying goes that a loved child has many names, but the same seems to be true for those we are not so fond of. Luckily, the amount of names for spots is tantamount to the number of ways you can protect your skin against their unwelcome appearance. However, it is important to remember, that spots are a result of clogged up pores. These impurities may be building up in your pores for a long time before the pimples start appearing, at which point the damage is already well on its way. To combat spots in the long term, you should develop a good skincare routine as part of your day-to-day life. This way you are less prone to surprises. Some products that would be good to incorporate into your daily routine are a face wash or a cleanser to wash away impurities, a toner to protectively tighten up the pores after washing, and a moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated.
Even though oily skin is commonly linked with spots, many popular cleansers have harsh chemicals in them that leave your skin dehydrated, which actually can cause spots as well! Because of this, it is important to pay attention to the ingredients in your skincare products. Avoiding harsh chemicals and toxins is easier when you opt for natural products.

Natural Skincare
Natural skincare products like those from Misumi skincare are both safe and effective for your skin. The natural products aid the skin’s own natural healing processes, and for example the AHA 10% Skin Perfecting Cleanser is not only a cleanser, but it is also intensely hydrating and can be used as a makeup remover. This can be bought as part of a duo or a three-step package, including a natural based toner and moisturizer from Misumi, a power package to not only get rid of existing spots, but to also keep acne at bay. Your skincare routine does not need to include complex and harsh products with negative side effects.
But what do you do when you must get rid of one specific spot, right now?
For quick treatment of the spot itself, you may find heat can do the trick. Taking a hot shower, steaming or pressing a warm compress to the spot can help open the pores and bring the clogged material to the surface. Alternately, with a deeper, more inflamed or painful spot, using ice or a cold compress on the area will help calm it down and reduce the redness as the blood vessels are constricted.
Another quick fix, and a very popular one, is to cover up your spot with makeup, but in the long-term makeup will only aggravate your pores, leading to more break outs. Consider giving your skin a break by going makeup free, and only use products that are specifically designed to both cover and treat a pimple, like an anti-pimple cover stick. Look for products containing salicylic acid, as it helps get rid of blackheads and dead skin.
When it comes right down to it, all skin types are unique and react to different methods in various ways. However, when you find the right product and the right routine for you, you might just be able to say goodbye to spots forever.
