Highlights of the pre-recording day + full list of winners
TORONTO, ON - One of the most exciting things about the fashion industry is the fact that it's always changing. It is an inspiring and innovative environment that always adapts to the current times and looks for new means of expression.
Canadian fashion industry is no different. In the end of October, I had a pleasure of attending the pre-recording of
CANIFFF (Canadian International Fashion Film Festival) at the iconic
Stephan Caras Int'l Headquarters in
Riverside, Toronto.
The day started at 10 am with a spectacular performance of Canadian pop singer,
Dani Doucette.
Dani was performing an acoustic version of “Get It Out” originally produced by @vessbroz while wearing a sequin mini dress from CARAS' SS16 FLORÀL collection.

From then, the day became even more interesting with high-end fashion and high-profile guests (including Skylar Campbell, Jackie Oakley, Deanna Sciortino, Carolina Lopez), lots of interviews, and interesting behind the scenes moments filmed at various parts of the Atelier in a beautiful historic heritage building on Queen East.
This year's awards were hosted by
Keysi Sayago and
Shayne Stephens. Keysi was wearing another stunning CARAS' design, this time from the Fall/Winter 2018 collection. Have a look at this gorgeous, eye-catching dress below!

Another highlight of the day was a live performance by Carolina Lopez who brought dazzling Latin energy with her song HERO (a neo-soul fusion with reggae and hip hop vibes). You can listen to it

CANIFFF CELEBRATES ITS 2021 WINNERS
Toronto, Canada - November 3, 2021 - The CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL FASHION FILM FESTIVAL (CANIFFF) just completed its 2021 Festival Edition, October 25th-27th.
This 2021 season, CANIFFF received hundreds of Fashion Film submissions, covering 44 countries. After weeks of deliberation, our prestigious international jury proudly awarded winners in 21 Fashion Film Categories. “
HOW TO FALL IN LOVE”, featuring Pamela Anderson, took home the “Canadian Fashion Film” Award, while “
KILL - BURN” earned 8 nominations, and won the coveted “Best Fashion Film” of the year. CANIFFF also continued to foster the next generation of Fashion Filmmakers through FREE submissions and a Student Award Category.

*(EDITOR'S NOTE: I had a chance to watch Alexander King Chen show during Taipei IN Style fashion week and both his designs and the whole runway show were truly spectacular. It is great to see Asian designers getting more and more recognition around the world).

As Fashion Weeks continue to navigate the ever-changing terrain, CANIFFF provides a unique platform for brands, filmmakers, designers, & creative industries to showcase their talent, brands, and services. This year, CANIFFF supported the fashion & film industry through our theme of “Community” in our Chats, Collaborations, Panels with industry leaders, & our Annual Awards Show.
“I feel the virtual revolution we are currently going through has pushed fashion films front and centre as the medium for storytelling. After so many decades in the business of fashion, coupled with my love of film and cultural influences, it’s exciting to now have Canada being a leader on the Fashion Film Festival world stage. Toronto is uniquely situated to be the Canadian home for this unique creative platform, as it is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world,” remarks CANIFFF CEO Roger Gingerich.
The fashion film is an intriguing anomaly these days - it is a niche subgroup of the short film genre. Fashion films are one of the most unique and fascinating forms of expression. Fashion films are pieces of content created by brands, designers, storytellers, and artists that include fashion as the main character or plays a supporting role. The films present new stories while also influencing consumer decision-making.

ABOUT ROGER GINGERICH
Recently, Roger Gingerich was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Commonwealth Fashion Council (CFC). Based in London, England, the CFC is a fashion body of 54 nations promoting fashion education, youth & gender empowerment, and responsibility. Gingerich, 54, also served eight years on the board of directors of Fashion Group International Toronto, including three years as its Regional Director. Furthermore, he sat on the board of directors of Canada Fashion Group Inc. which hosted the largest fashion weeks in Canada: Toronto Men’s Fashion Week and Toronto Women’s Fashion Week.
