Makeup: What Will We See at Toronto Fashion Week?
If you have been following makeup trends over the last year, you will have noticed that it has been a year of colour and contouring. Makeup trends have been all over the map this year and Toronto Fashion Week will be no exception. Throughout the year, we have seen everything from nude, natural colours, to bold bright metallic on some of the freshest faces around the world.
Celebrities have been showing us subtle hints of what to expect on the runways this spring. Take Olivia Wilde for example, as she stunned viewers with her maroon eyes at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards just a few days ago. This look is hard to pull off, but makeup artists are noticing a trend with the up-rise of red on the eyes, cheeks and lips this season. Five years ago, this was a fashion faux-pas.
Blue also seems to be making a comeback. Remember when you looked back at your pictures of your parents or grandparents back in the 80s and thought you would never ever wear blue eye-shadow? Well, a more modern and classy approach to this look is taking the fashion world by storm and soon you will want to hop on this train too. Just like I said I would never wear leggings or skinny jeans, I also plan to never wear blue eye-shadow. Let’s see how long that lasts.
Metallics are a bold way to make a statement in the fashion world. But prepare to see this taken to the next level. Metallic lips and highlighting shades are becoming popular and were both dominant at the New York and Milan fashion weeks.
Lastly, its all about brows and eyelashes. Statement brows are still the staple for a well-framed face. But with this, a less is more attitude goes a long way. Prepare to see the models dominate the runway with well-groomed, bold brows and long luscious lashes with a striking bold lip.
All in all, expect to see a plethora of makeup looks and new trends this spring. We can’t wait to witness this for ourselves in Toronto in March!
